2016 Cadillac CTS-V

BMW's M division is floundering. Cadillac's CTS is sharper than ever. Could the 640-hp CTS-V be the car that makes people forget the M5?

a supercharged 640-hp 6.2-liter V-8, big Brembo brakes, an eight-speed automatic, and rear-wheel drive. A manual is not offered, but you won’t care when this brute hits 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and 100 mph just 3.9 seconds later. The steering is accurate yet hefty, while the ride is surprisingly civilized thanks to a magnetorheological suspension. Cadillac claims a top speed of 200 mph and we won’t argue. This is a supersedan in every sense.

Cadillac finally turned a corner in 2003 with its first CTS. Ever since then, the brand has been hellbent on topping its German rivals. The 2016 CTS-V, which made its debut at this year’s Detroit auto show, is Cadillac’s best chance yet to do so.

The CTS-V has always been a kind of four-door Chevy Corvette. The new V ties the Corvette connection even tighter with an engine lifted from the ballistic Corvette Z06. The engine is so lightly altered for Cadillac duty that the company could have called this car the CTS-V06.

If the CTS Vsport is any indication, the full-blown V should deliver some of the purest steering feel out there—not just among the competition, but in all of luxury land. For the Cadillac team, it’s a product of philosophy more than an engineering challenge.

  1. Thank you Hussain for sharing this post.
I believe that this car poses a real threat to its competitors like the BMW M5 and the Mercedes Benz E63 AMG. In my opinion, this car is in no way inferior to the aforementioned cars. I love how this car does not sacrifice luxury to gain performance. This car offers the best value in this market segment.

In my opinion it's a good car but I will not spend this amount of money on an American car it's too much, I'd rather buy a German car that have very good quality which can be used for the next 10 years.

  3. Sorry hussain , i'm not agree with u for many reasons . First if i will spend that amount of mony i will spent it for onther car specifications with the finest and most luxurious and with a strong reputation company like Mercedes. Second this cadillac had a lot of problem with
maintenance and most people who buy this car they faced this issues .
So if i have the option i will use a mecedes or BMW
    Thank u hussain
